Birch

Welcome to Birch class!

The last week already! Time has flown in year 4 and we are so proud of all we have each achieved this year. We have been spending some time in guided reading looking through our books to see the improvements we have made through the year and the very visible progress that has been evident across the class.

This week we are very lucky to have some dance and drumming workshops - check out the photos as we put them on!

Welcome to term 6! I hope you've all had a lovely Easter. Time is flying by this year and I really can't believe that it's term 5 already! I'm really seeing how far Birch class have come on, and am so proud of their effort and determination in their learning.

So, another term, another topic! I'll hand over to the website monitors to tell you all about their learning!

This weeks update is a team effort - we all chipped in to write this!

Last week we had a sports week! We made some banners to cheer on our class. We learnt how to play rounders with Miss Webb and cricket with Mr Wichard and Mrs Fisher. We had a big tournament at Bitton Football Club on Thursday. We played against year three and our outstanding skills as a class helped us to secure a win!

This week we have had SARI in to describe all types of bullying and how the words we can use can be wrong.

In maths this week, we had booklets and we learnt about capacity. We did some estimating and some measuring. We have written ghostly stories so have a look and see what you think of them!

We have also started rehearsing the Key Stage 2 production! We wnjoyed learning the songs and getting to know the storyline: here is what we think of it:
James S said the play is “brilliant”

Jamboree!

Last week was the Big Bang!

This week and last week we’ve been learning about our topic jamboree. We have been making masks, floats and have learned how to be a majorette and music. We had a carnival and the food we had was guacamole, dip and salads. The food was spicy, the guacamole however was sweet.

We did majorettes out side, where we learnt to spin the batons (which are majorettes). We made floats made of cardboard boxes, glitter, wooden line outs, coloured tissue paper.

We also did masks; first we did a sketch then made it. We also did music using drums, whistles and tin cans for drums as well. The drummer follow the majorettes that are spinning their batons.

We have been learning French numbers and days of the week. Ask us to tell you what day it is in French!
