Term 4

Term 4
Week beginning 15th February 2016

Rainforests

This term, learners in Ash class will be finding out about rainforest environments, focusing on the Amazon as this will link nicely with the Rio Olympics later in the year. We will also be revisiting how green plants grow well. Learners in Ash class will have received bookmarks with the scientific vocabulary we will be using in this topic.

For your information, your child’s learning this term is available to download below.

Home Learning
Please ensure your child's yellow home learning book is in school every Friday.

There will be a weekly:
1) ‘Spelling’ task relating to the week’s phonics lessons. There will also a pair of homophones to discuss and two 'tricky' words that do not follow a spelling pattern. Please practice these spellings with your child.

2) Handwriting task relating to the previous week's handwriting lesson.

3) Maths task. We are focusing on times tables and related division facts (the ‘144 club’- letter attached below).

and 4) Daily reading at home. Please hear your child read every day, recording comments and ‘wow’ words or phrases that you have discussed. I do not allow children to change their book without evidence that they have read it to an adult first!

How are rainforests different?
Answering this ‘big question’ is an optional home learning task that must come into school Thursday 24th March.
